A universe in a grain of rice


來自於鄉土,純淨無染之香甜御米,


The pure and untainted rice with fragrance and sweetness of the earth.

每一粒米中蘊含著溫暖與道香,歲歲年年;每一粒米中飽含著感恩與祝福,天長地久。


Every grain of rice contains aroma and warmth;Every grain of rice comes with gratitude and blessings.


二00九年八月七日,中度颱風莫拉克,從臺灣北部緩步而過;八月八日,它所挾帶的強大風雨,將一年累積的雨量,傾倒在中南部地區,造成嚴重災害。無數家園、土地與生命遭土石流掩埋;家,已不是家;地,也不再是昔日熟悉的模樣。 


On August 7th, 2009, typhoon Morakot passed Northern Taiwan. On August 8th, with violent wind, and torrential downpour the typhoon devastated central and southern Taiwan. Countless homes were destroyed by mudslides. The landscape was forever changed.


斷水、斷電,民生通路沒了方向。為了因應受災民眾熱食所需,靜思精舍常住眾自八月八日下午開始緊急趕製香積飯,陸續以四十呎貨櫃,連夜送往中南部受災地區;及至八月二十日為止,共送出三十四噸香積飯及五萬七千多盒沖泡式的「福慧湯品」,及時解決受災民眾三餐的問題。 


In the aftermath of typhoon Morakot, affected areas lacked water and electricity. Monastics and volunteers at the Jing Si Abode manufactured instant rice and sent them to affected areas in central and Southern Taiwan immediately. A total of 34 tons of instant rice and more than 57,000 boxes of instant soup were sent to people affected by typhoon Morakot.


災難時刻發揮功效,香積飯的研發者德晗師父卻笑不出來,語重心長地說:「這場災難,讓更多人認識香積飯,卻也是我不忍看到的一件事。寧願在太平時刻,讓大家知道香積飯的可口與方便…」 


Instant rice helped to relieve the hunger. . However, its inventor, Master De Han was not relieved. She said, “People appreciated the utility of the instant rice due to the disaster .However, I could not bear to see this. I’d rather let people know the convenience and delicacy of instant rice in safe times.”


香積飯的研發,是為了國際賑災或急難救助使用。曾經在一次冬令發放時,一位阿嬤領回白米後,卻無力燒柴煮飯,眼看著白米卻無計可施!證嚴上人聽聞此訊息,甚是不忍,心想若可將白米變成沖泡式的乾燥飯,阿嬤就能即時有一碗飯或粥可以食用。 


Jing Si Abode started developing instant rice for international disaster relief work. Once, an elderly grandma received some rice but she was too feeble to start a fire and cook the rice. When Master Cheng Yen learned about this, she felt for the woman. She thought if we could turn rice into dehydrated rice that can be easily prepared, then Grandma did not have to go hungry.


一個單純想法,引發弟子們著手研發。研發成功後,香積飯確實發揮了很大的功能。慈濟人在海內外賑災時,於缺乏能源的克難環境中,需要便於運送、不必烹煮就能讓人吃飽,又兼具衛生、安全與營養的糧食;香積飯完全符合這樣的需求,即使用冷開水也可以沖泡,成為災民及救災人員最佳的能量補充來源。  


Master Cheng Yen’s kind thought inspired the monastics at Jing Si Abode and they started developing instant rice. After countless trials and errors, they developed instant rice, which immediately served important function. When Tzu Chi volunteers go abroad to carry out international disaster relief work, they need to prepare food that do not need to be cooked and can provide adequate nutrients. Instant rice can be prepared even with cold water, so it is the best energy source for disaster victims and relief workers.


在平安之時,香積飯也有大功能。當今有許多家庭,三餐都不在家裡開伙,到外面購買飯菜或是上館子用餐,花費多又產生大量廚餘。如果能讓家家戶戶運用沖泡簡便的五穀粉或香積飯麵準備三餐,就不必餐餐外食或購買食物回家,節省家庭花費也減少碳足跡,並且節省水電、瓦斯等能源,真正節能減碳!  


Besides during the time of disaster relief, instant rice serves important function in other times. Many families choose to buy prepared food or eat out, rather than cooking. Therefore, they spend a lot of money on food and create much kitchen waste. If people can use multi-grain powder or instant rice to prepare meals, they do not have to eat out all the time. They can cut down food expenses and reduce carbon emission, usage of water and gas. This is truly a way to save energy and reduce carbon emission! 


當舉辦大型活動或會議,人員眾多時,只要煮好開水,請大家自己帶環保碗沖泡香積飯,約莫二十至四十分鐘後就能食用,相當方便,省時又省力! 


In big events or meetings, with instant rice, we can easily prepare meals in 20 to 40 minutes with hot water. People just need to bring their own utensils, so it is very convenient!


時下的物欲常常誘惑人心不自主地陷入五欲中,若要讓心靈回歸簡單、清淨,就必須從日常生活中著手。若能每天一餐香積飯,身心皆輕安。新世代新生活就從心素食簡開始!


Many temptations of modern society lure people to desire more. If we want to return to a simple and pure lifestyle, we have to start with daily life habits. If we can try to replace one meal with instant rice a day, then our body and mind would both be at ease. Let’s start the new life with simple vegetarian dishes.


香積飯之食用方法


沖泡方法:準備好碗筷,碗中注入120cc沸騰開水,先倒入調味料包在碗中攪拌均勻,再倒入蔬菜包和乾燥飯包在碗中充份攪拌,蓋上碗蓋,靜置二十分鐘,攪拌後即可食用。


煮食方法:將乾燥飯、蔬菜包、粉包撕開後放入器皿中,加水120cc邊煮邊攪拌至沸騰,熄火再悶五分鐘,即可食用。


※增加水量沖泡即可成為粥品。


※冷開水亦可沖泡,時間約50-60分鐘。


※乾燥飯與蔬菜包可分開沖泡。


※保存方法:請置於乾燥通風處,拆封後請存放密封罐。
